What Do Pet Sitters Do – Caring for Your Pets

Pet sitting is important to take seriously. It can be hard to find someone to watch your pets, so it’s important to make sure they’ll be cared for properly. The big question is, what do pet sitters do?

What Do Pet Sitters Do

If you are wondering about the job description of a pet sitter, you will get it here. This blog post will explore the roles and benefits of a pet sitter. You will know what to expect when it comes to the care of your pet.

  • Home Care
  • When pet owners are not at home, pet sitters typically fill in the void. They take charge of the home and do everything the owner would to the pet. They feed them, clean the home, and make sure everything is safe. In some other instances, the pet caregivers will clean around the home; collect mail and water plants. In circumstances where the owner may not be coming back over the night, the pet sitter will stay overnight. Nobody will even guess that the homeowner is away because everything will be running as usual.

  • Feeding Pets Their Appropriate Diet
  • Pets deserve to be fed on a proper diet. Forget about the typical feeds you randomly give to your pet. They have special diet needs just like humans. For instance, snakes will require fresh meat most of the time. Cats rely heavily on proteins, and they prefer home-prepared meals. That means you should be ready to cook. Rabbits are all about greens. Be ready to go to the market as many times as possible. Pet owners are particularly fond of their animal companions. They will leave the sitter with specific instructions to feed the pets. The pet sitter will follow each of those instructions to the letter.

  • Removing Waste
  • Pet owners may love them, but not so much with the poop. Pets will litter all over and make a mess of a home. One of the reasons why pet sitters are hired is to take care of the waste. You will have to clean a pet yard and safely dispose of the trash. It is not an easy job, but sitters are trained to do it with the utmost professionalism. Keeping the pets, their houses, and environment clean is part of the job. They have to be healthy, and cleanliness is part of that.

  • Medication
  • From time to time, pets will require medication. Others have special conditions that will need regular medication. In other cases, pet sitters will have to spray insecticides to kill pests. It is very crucial to maintain the medication schedule. If a particular pet has to take medication three times a day, the schedule has to be observed. If your dog is vaccinated and medicated properly, your pet sitter can take Fido for walks and even to the dog park.

    Bottom Line

Have you been wondering about what do pet sitters do? Now you know the roles they play to ensure your pet and home are properly cared for. It’s important to communicate with your pet sitter when it comes to diet and medication for your pet.
